Welcome
Extension of the abstracts submission deadline - 15th of November, 2024
The Fundamentals of Adsorption (FOA) conferences, organized by the International Adsorption Society (IAS), have been a unique and invaluable gathering for those interested about adsorption phenomena and related technologies since its inception with FOA1 in 1983. Continuing this tradition, the preparation for FOA 15, scheduled to take place in Portugal from May 18 to May 23, 2025, is underway with a dedicated commitment to maintaining the series' exceptional standards in both content and organization.
Adsorption phenomena play a crucial role in numerous natural physical, biological, and chemical systems, finding applications in a myriad of fields, ranging from catalysis and bulk separations to the purification of waste streams. Researchers actively explore various aspects, including the development of new adsorbent materials, such as meso-porous adsorbents, the use of molecular modeling to predict adsorption properties, while novel processes for gas and liquid separations are continuously being developed. Excitingly, adsorption is being explored in new frontiers, including energy systems, environmental applications, and life sciences.
One of the conference's standout features is the significant participation from the industrial sector. This creates an excellent environment for the exchange of ideas and knowledge between scientists and practitioners in the field. The FOA conference is renowned for its comprehensive coverage, encompassing fundamental research as well as real-world applications of adsorption. Topics span from molecular modeling and simulation of fluids adsorbed in porous materials to the design of pressure swing adsorption systems for industrial gas separation processes.
Just like its predecessors since the inaugural event in 1983, FOA 15 strives to provide a distinctive international platform where scientists and engineers from diverse disciplines, academia, and industry can connect and share their expertise. Whether you are a seasoned expert or a newcomer to the field of adsorption, the conference format and logistics are thoughtfully designed to foster personal and professional relationships among all participants. If you have a vested interest in adsorption, FOA 15 promises to be an enriching and worthwhile experience that should not be missed.
